Newly elected block president shot dead in UP, driver injured
Lucknow, Mar 20 (UNI) Newly elected Rajpura block president Harish Sirohi was shot dead by two youths this evening, under the jurisdiction of Kankarlaira police station of Merrut district, police said.
Deputy Inspector General, Merrut, R K Vishvakarma said Mr Saroli was going to Rajpura when his car was fired upon by two youths at Kankarlaira Railway Crossing.
The Block President, who was reportedly close to Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), died on the spot while his driver was injured, he said, adding, the assailants fled from the spot after the incident in another vehicle.
Police has seized the vehicle used in the killing, the DIG said, and added that the hunt to nab the criminals was on.
