Nagaland to have a technical university

Kohima, Mar 21 (UNI) Paving the way for setting up of a technical institution in Nagaland, the tenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly today passed the Global University of Nagaland bill 2005 on the floor of the house by a voice vote.

The university was proposed by the state government with an envisagd initial investment of Rs 30 to 40 crore.

The proposal was then approved in principle by the cabinet and was introduced on December 16, 2005 during the last assembly session.

The statutory receipt given to Global University of Nagaland bill now enables the state government to set up a professional technical research job oriented university in Wokha district.

The university, in collaboration with Open Global University, a Delhi-based educational society, will be offering a wide range of professional courses, including engineering, electronics and agro-studies.
