LS adjourned on water sharing issue
New Delhi, Mar 21: The Lok Sabha was today adjourned for an hour after BJP members from Rajasthan created noisy scenes and staged a demonstration in the well of the house demanding restoration of water supply from the Ravi and Beas rivers by Punjab.
The issue was raised by Mr Ram Singh Kaswan (BJP) during zero hour.
All the BJP members from Rajasthan rushed to the well of the house, shouting slogans and demanding release of water from Ravi and Beas for the state.
With the effort of Deputy Speaker Charnjit Singh Atwal to pacify the members failing, he announced adjournment of the house for one hour till 1345 hrs.
The agitated MPs from Rajasthan later went in a procession from the Lok Sabha and sat on a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue outside. They alleged that any delay in releasing water from Ravi-Beas would lead to loss of crops and put the farmers to a lot of hardship.
