Jamaican Wignall wins 110m hurdles gold

MELBOURNE, Mar 21 (Reuters) Jamaican Maurice Wignall eased to the gold medal in the men's 110 metres hurdles, his first major title, at the Commonwealth Games today.

Wignall burst out of the blocks and raced away to win comfortably in a time of 13.26 seconds. The Jamaican was fourth at the Athens Olympics and a bronze medallist at the Manchester Games four years ago.

Scotland's Chris Baillie claimed the silver in 13.61 and England's Andrew Turner the bronze in 13.62.

Wignall, who placed seventh in the world championships last year, had qualified for the final with the fastest time of 13.20.
