Huge deposits of Gypsum in Doda area, says Geology expert

Jammu, Mar 21 (UNI) A team of geology and minning experts and scientists after research and study have found huge deposite of 'Gypsum' in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Director of Geology and Mining department Inayat-ullah Khan visited the site of Gypsum deposit at Dharmund near Chkwa Nallah where investigation of gypsum is being conducted by Geologists of the department.

He interacted with concerned Geologists to have an appraisal of the mineral deposit. The director also visited a site near Raggi Nala of the district where gypsum is being dumped for onward transportation to different industries, after being transported through ropeways from mines situated about 5 km uphill at Barias Kothyar leased in favour of Baba Farid-ud-Din Baghdadi minerals.

The gypsum deposit was prospected by the department. Besides this, the Director Geology and Mining also inspected Mineral Check posts at Nagrota and Udhampur to monitor transportation of minerals from different sites.

He directed the officers to conduct the survey in further areas for mineral exploration, as district Doda is having maximum potential for mineral wealth.
