Government experts must conduct investigation about bird flu: NECC

Ranchi, Mar 21: National Egg Coordination Committee(NECC) has reiterated that every suspected case of bird flu should be investigated thoroughly by a team of Central experts before confirming the disease.

In a faxed statement here, NECC today said sending samples abroad without its knowledge was meaningless.

NECC said it was unaware what samples had been sent abroad and what tests conducted.

It alleged that bird flu was declared based on the opinion of just one laboratoy results and its director, resulting in enoromous loss to the industry and farmers. Hence, NECC had asserted that a panel of experts should be appointed.

In future the government should set up a school laboratory to test bird flu and seek a second opinion before confirming the disease, it added.
