Governor lauds Commonwealth medal winners of Manipur

Imphal, Mar 21 (UNI) Manipur Governor Dr S S Sidhu congratulated the medal winners from the state in the Commonwealth games being held in Melbourne.

State athletes Kunajarani devi and Yamnam Renubala have won gold medals and Monica Lashiram devi won silver medal in different weightlifting categories so far.

The Governor said their achievements have made both India and Manipur proud and expressed hope that this would augur well for the coming 2006 Beijing Olympics.

Mr Sidhu urged the state government to support the players.

Congratulatory statements poured in from all parts of the state, lauding their outstanding performance in the games.
