CPI(ML) to contest four seats in Pondy Assembly poll
Pondicherry, Mar 21 (UNI) The Pondicherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) would contest four seats in the Union Territory in the May 8 Assembly elections here, party state secretary S Balasubramanian said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the party would contest the Ozhukarai and Ariyankuppam constituencies in Pondicherry region and Kottucherry and Nedumgadu(sc) constituencies in Karaikal regions.
The names of the candidates would be shortly announced, he added.
Ponting out the corruption and misdeeds in the Congress regime, Mr Balasubramanian alleged that the Congress government has become totally ''anti-people'' and 'anti-labourers'', but the CPI and CPI(M) are supporting the government and trying to forge an alliance for the ensuing poll.
He urged the left parties to come out of the alliance and contest the poll by forming a Left-front here.
He alleged that there were several irregularities in the voters list and the authorities are reluctant to update it.
