Cloudy sky in Delhi, cool North Westerlies bring down mercury
New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) For the second day running, Delhi witnessed a partly cloudy sky even as cool Northwesterly winds brought about a sharp fall in the mercury in the Capital.
The high-speed winds brought down the temperature to 29.9 degrees celsius from 32 degree celsius yesterday, bringing some coolness in the air.
Clouds enveloped the Delhi skyline again this morning till about noon. The thick clouds resulted in the minimum temperature today rising to 17.4 degree celsius from 15 degree celsius yesterday.
The cloud cover and the cool breeze today continued to provide relief to the people from the scorching conditions, which characterised the weather since the beginning of February.
This is the second day in succession that the capital has witnessed a cloudy sky interspersed with periods of sunlight. The thick clouds in the sky resulted in the capital experiencing traces of rainfall yesterday afternoon.
Though the sky is likely to clear up by tomorrow, the weathermen have forecast more surface winds in the capital tomorrow, indicating that the comfortable weather conditions will persist.
The minimum temperature tomorrow is expected to decrease to 15 degrees celsius, they said.
There has been a turnaround in the weather in the capital since the first week of March, a development attributed to a series of Upper air cyclonic storms.
The capital has, since March 8, witnessed three spells of rainfall. On March 8, the capital experienced a sudden burst of hailstorms and rain. Then, Delhi was lashed by heavy rains on March 11.
Then , on the eve of Holi, light rains lashed Delhi sending the mercury plummetting to nearly 22 degrees celsius.
