Centre approves 10 SEZs in AP
Hyderabad, Mar 21 (UNI) The Board of Approvals of the Ministry of Commerce today approved ten new Special Economic Zones (SEZs), including six in private sector in the Information Technology.
The State Secretary to IT and Communication K Ratna Prabha, who represented the State at the board meeting, said two Government IT and IT Enabled Services (ITES) were approved at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam, two at Nanakramguda in Hyderabad and one at Gannavaram near Vijayawada.
She said the SEZs would come up over an area of 85 hectares and had an employment potential of 62,000 jobs.
Ms Prabha said Satyam computers, CA computer Associates India, AP Techno projects, Raheja IT Park and Wipro Technologies, were involved in the ventures.
She said the old and new SEZs, would have not less than 135 sqft processing area and generate direct employment to 3.42 lakh persons.
The State enjoyed the distinction of having the highest number of proposals cleared by the board during this year, she added.
