BJP suspends Sangha Priya Gautam for attending Uma Rally

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) The BJP today suspended senior Dalit leader and former Union Minister Sangha Priya Gautam from the party with immediate effect for attending the Janadesh rally of expelled BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti.

The step comes close on the heels of suspension of Delhi BJP stalwart Madan Lal Khurana from the party for the second time for anti-party activities.

Party Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said that the decision was taken by BJP President Rajnath Singh against Mr Gautam, who was also a former BJP Vice President at the national level.

Mr Gautam was one of those invited to attend the rally held at the Ramlila Grounds today.

Taking note of the participation of other prominent BJP leaders at the Rally, the BJP Chief said that the respective state units will be taking disciplinary action and asserted that the party would not tolerate indiscipline.

The leaders who had attended the rally today included former Union Ministers Swamy Chinmayananda and Tapan Sikdar, former Ministers Gauri Shankar Shejwar (MP), Ramashish Rai (UP), former Karnataka BJP Chief Basavaraj Patil and Delhi BJP MLA Harsharan Singh Balli.

Former Haryana Chief Minister O P Chautala's sons Abhay and Ajay Chautala were the prominent non-BJP leaders who attended the rally.
