Assembly adjourned amid pandemonium

Hyderabad, Mar 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly was today adjourned amid pandemonium during the question hour over opposition allegation on land scam.

Opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) and Congress allies CPI and CPI(M) alleged that valuable government land was being allocated in favour of individuals, violating rules and regulations.

The opposition demanded appointment of a House Committee to go into the land allocation in favour of individuals.

While rejecting their demand for appointment of a Committee, Minister for Rural Development D Srinivas said the present government was following the guidelines prepared and followed by the erstwhile TDP government. There was a confusion when the ruling party and the opposition quoted a number of GOs, criticising each other for land allocation.

The TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu quoted a number of GOs, alleging the government violation of the Urban Land Ceiling Act(ULCA) to allocate land in favour of some individuals.

Mr Srinivas quoted another set of GOs, alleging that only the TDP government headed by Mr Naidu violated the ULCA to favour some individuals.

The TDP and Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS), however, wanted a Committee to be appointed to go into the land allocation during the Congress regime.

The CPI and CPI(M) wanted the Committee to probe the land allocation during the TDP and Congress regimes.

The Agricultre Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said the TDP was trying to blackmail the government by using the assembly as a political platform.

TDP members rushed into the well of the House and started shouting slogans, forcing the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy to abruptly adjourn the House.
