Anil Biswas still on ventillatory support

Kolkata, Mar 21 (UNI) The condition of CPI(M) West Bengal committee secretary Anil Biswas improved marginally today even though he continued to be on some degree of ventillatory support.

A repeat CT scan of Mr Biswas this morning showed some improvement.

Dr Jayanta Bose, one of the doctors in the nursing Home's eight-member board attending on Mr Biswas, said, ''The CPI(M) leader was clinically stable though he was not responding.'' ''His neurological status marginally improved. Other critical parameters, including pulse and blood pressure, remained stable. His overall condition also remained stable,'' the bulletin said.

Mr Biswas, also a Polit Bureau member, underwent a second surgery on his brain on Sunday evening for removal of the clot following a massive haemorrhage that he suffered on Saturday.

However, Dr Bose said, ''The haemorrhage has stopped at present.'' Put on ventillatory support, Mr Biswas had been battling for life in the ICU of the nursing home with the medical board of doctors constantly monitoring his condition.
