All India Bhaskar Rao music festival from Mar 24
Chandigarh, Mar 21: Pracheen Kala Kendra will be organising the 36th All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan here from March 24 to 26.
Pracheen Kala Kendra secretary M L Koser told mediapersons that this is an annual event of music and dance was being organised by the Kendra since 1969 to pay homage to Gayanacharya Bhaskarbua Bhakhle (popularly known as Bhaskar Rao), an exponent of Indian classical music.
The festival will open with a sitar jugalbandi by Debu Chaudhauri and Prateek Chaudhuri, the father-son duo will be accompanied by Akram Khan on tabla and later, Odissi danseuse Leesa Mohanty and her troupe will give a performance.
On the second day, Sarod maestro Brij Narayan and vocalist Subhra Guha will perform and, on the third day, Haricharan Verma and Mamta Shankar will exhibit vocal and ballet dance respectively.
Koser said there was hardly any stalwart of music or dance in the country who had not performed at this annual festival.
