Airtel to launch PCO services in Asom

Guwahati, Mar 21: Airtel, India's leading mobile service provider, became the first private Global System for Mobile (GSM) player to launch PCO services in Asom.

The latest initiative from Airtel is in line with its vision of bringing the benefits of wireless technology to its customers in the state, according to company sources.

Giving a whole new dimension to PCO, Airtel's 10-digit numbering plan for PCOs is based on the wireless platform.

The launch of Airtel's PCO is expected to give a further fillip to telecom penetration in the circle.

The initiative will also be source of employment generation for people in the region.

The Airtel PCO is operated on a prepaid platform and is connected through fixed cellular terminals.

Airtel PCO gives an excellent opportunity to the new entrant in PCO business as the investment involved is competitive and the returns are more profitable, Airtel sources said.
