Yukta Mookhey gets six weeks time to move SC

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) Bombay High Court today stayed evacuation proceedings of former Miss World Yukta Mookhey from her flat at Lokhandwala Complex for six weeks during which she can move the Supreme Court.

Ms Mookhey, who has been staying in the flat on leave-and-license basis after paying a security deposit of Rs 7.5 lakh, challenged in the High Court the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal's order directing her to vacate the place and hand it over to the Bank of India.

The owner of the flat, Sanjivani Properties Private Limited, had stood guarantor to Harmonic Fabric Fashions Private Limited who had failed to repay a loan to Bank of India. For recovery of the loan, the Bank approached the holder of the property, provided as security, and found it to be occupied by Ms Mookhey.

The Bank issued a notice and the court, where the appeal was initially filed, passed an order in favour of the Bank of India and asked Ms Mookhey to vacate the premises. Following this, Ms Mookhey had moved the Appellate Court.
