Wanted naxal among 31 criminals
Lucknow, Mar 20: A naxal extremist carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head is among the 31 criminals nabbed by the Uttar Pradesh police during the last two months in a special security drive.
Director General of UP Police Yashpal Singh said here today that Bhola Pal alias Rakesh, an active member of the banned Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), was arrested from the naxal infested Chandaulli district, which also resulted in the arrest of another wanted criminal Ajit Chaube, carrying a reward of Rs 10,000.
As a part of the same drive counterfeit currency totalling over Rs 10,04,000 and narcotics worth Rs 1.4 crore have been recovered, he added.
During the last two months the police has nabbed 17 criminals involved in cases of abduction and gunned down two notorious criminals.
As many as 30 auto-lifters have also been arrested, Mr Singh said, adding, that rare Asthadhatu idols valued at Rs 9.25 crore in international market have also been seized during the period.
