Trade unions in jute industry to fight against employers

Kolkata, Mar 20 (UNI) Twenty jute industry trade unions will fight against the employers for revision of grade and scale, payment of dearness allowance, PF and gratuity.

The unions have also demanded implementation of all tri-partite agreements and withdrawal of unfair labour practices.

All India Trade Union Congress President Debasish Dutta alleged here today that the employers had been attacking the workers for a long time.

An official release said the employers had declared suspension of work/lock-out in mills, reducing shift and machines, violating tripartite agreements, reducing wages and increasing workload.

The dues on account of non-payment of provident fund, ESI gratuity is on the rise.

The employers have also stopped payment of enhanced dearness allowance from November 1, 2005. The workers are also not getting their wages and statutoty dues.

All the trade unions have resolved to fight the offensive of the employers unitedly, the release said.
