Three teenaged brother drowned

Thane, Mar 19 (UNI) Three brothers from Virar in the western part of the district drowned in the river today, police said.

The teenaged brothers were among the group of people who had assembled at the Shiv Mandir at Parol in Virar.

The parents of the drowned boys used to conduct the mass feeding programme as a part of the religious festival of the temple every year and this year was also not an exception, sources said, adding the family hailed from Gokul Nagar of Virar.

In the afternoon when the other people were busy in the temple the trio sneaked into the river to cool them off and drowned, police said.

The drowned were namely, Niles Raju Rawal, 19, Vijay Raju Rawal, 17, and Satish Raju Rawal, 12.
