Ten naxalites killed in encounter in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh, Mar 20 (UNI) At least ten maoist ultras were killed and a large cache of arms and ammunition seized during a fierce encounter with police at Ambachar village along Jharkhand border early today.

Superintendent of Police Pravin Kumar Singh said the encounter took place along the border of Jharkhand's Hazaribagh and Bihar's Gaya districts.

Talking to newsmen, Mr Singh said four bodies were recovered and the rest taken away by the ultras.

One ultras was also arrested.

The recovered arms included two semi-automatic rifles, two SLR, one DBBL gun, three hand grenades, one sten gun and three regular rifles.

Three regular rifles were looted from the police, he said.

He also said police fired about 950 rounds, while the extremists fired about 300 rounds, he assed.
