Tata Power begins work on 250 MW coal-based Power Plant at Trombay

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) Tata Power Company Ltd today announced the setting up of a new 250 MW power plant at its Trombay Thermal Station in north east Mumbai.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this project was conducted today by Minister of State for Energy Mr Dilip Walse Patil.

The setting up of the new power plant will help augment power supply to the city of Mumbai.

The Unit will use imported coal with very low sulphur and ash content, adhering strictly to the environmental guidelines. The total investment in the project is expected to be around Rs 8,600 million and is scheduled to be completed in 28 months.

Director of the company Adi Engineer said, ''The announcement is a significant step in augmenting power supply to the city of Mumbai. We look forward to continued support from the Maharashtra Government in facilitating this as also our further plans for power generation in Maharashtra.'' UNI GC KD SB DB2123
