Suspension of four MPs in MPLAD fund implementation endorsed
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today unanimously accepted the V Kishore Chand Deo Committee report recommending the suspension of four members, involved in the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds scam, from the House till Wednesday, March 22.
The Committee's suggestions for removing the lacunae in implementation of MPLADS scheme and laying down guidelines for the sting operation in future were also endorsed by the House.
Moving the motion for the adoption of the Committee report, tabled in the House on March 14, Defence Minister and Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee said the period of absence of the MPs, caught on camera for alleged misappropriation of MPLAD funds in sting operation by private TV channel, from December 20 last year to March 22 be considered as their suspension from the House.
Four MPs -- Alemao Churchill, Paras Nath Yadav, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Ram Swaroop Koli -- were earlier reprimanded for alleged improper conduct in matter of implementation of MPLAD scheme and were asked by Speaker Somnath Chaterjee not to attend the House from December 20, 2005.
