Six members elected unanimously from AP

Hyderabad, Mar 20 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao, INTUC national president G Sanjeeva Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President were among the six candidates elected unopposed from Andhra Pradesh in the Biennial elections here to the Rajya Sabha today.

With the deadline ending for the withdrawal of nominations to fill the six vacant seats to the Council of States from Andhra Pradesh, State Legislature Secretary K Tuljanand Singh, the Returning Officer, declared elected unopposed four Congress candidates and one each from CPI and TDP, the major opposition.

Those elected were Mr Dasari Narayana Rao, Mr Reddy, Dr Rao, Raashid Alvi, all Congress, Azeez Pasha (CPI) and Dr MV Mysoora Reddy ,a former Congress Home Minister who had switched over to TDP on the eve of the last Lok Sabha elections. Dr Reddy is also a native of Cuddapah like Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

While the Union Minister of State Mr Rao and BSP turned Congressman from Uttar Pradesh Raashid Alvi were renominated, the others will fill the seats vacated by four TDP members K Ram Mohan Rao, V Geetha, Kandula Raja Mohan Reddy and Alladi Rajkumar.
