Sensex opens strong above 10,900 points, Nifty at an all time high

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) opened strong with a gain of 43 points at 10,903 as against the last close of 10,860 points.

Sensex traded 62 points up at 10,922 points at 1131 hrs.

It touched a high of 10,941 with a gain of 81 points in the mid morning trade but then cooled down.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index opened flat at 3,234 points and touched a life time high of 3,263 points this morning. Nifty traded 21 points up at 3,255 at 1145 hrs.

Maximum gains were seen in the BSE sectoral indices of metal, information technology and technology.

Automobile, Health Care and Oil&Gas indices of the BSE were under pressure, but were in the green.

BSE Smallcap index was in the green too, gaining by 0.65 per cent. BSE Midcap index was up by 0.80 per cent.

The top gainers on the 30 share Sensex at 1137 hrs were Wipro, Grasim Industries, Hindalco, Infosys, Gujarat Ambuja Cements, TCS, Dr Reddy's Lab, Tata Steel, Maruti and ITC.

There were only three losers on Sensex Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, and HDFC.
