Seminars to be held during NE Agri Expo
Kohima, Mar 20 (UNI) Nagaland University (NU) and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has arranged a series of seminars and conferences during the North East Agri Expo to be held at Dimapur from March 27 to 31.
Dr Akali Sema, secretary, organization committee of Agri Expo in a statement said the NU and ICAR, in coordination with the Centre and the Nagaland government is organising a plenary session on 'North East: Emerging horizons in Agri business', besides seminars and conference on rural development and interactive sessions of scientists with farmers.
Dr Sema said seminars would be held on various topics, including organic farming-status and road map, conservation of natural resources, role of livestock and fishery in poverty reduction, opportunities of horticulture in the NE region, as also emerging areas of commercial interest in NE region.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has declared 2006 as the ''Year of Agriculture'. A number of luminaries, including planning commission members, Secretaries and Vice-Chancellors, Commissioners, CEOs, Secretaries of NER, MDs of financial houses will participate in the seminars.
Governor of Nagaland Shyamal Datta will be the Chief Guest while the Chief Minister and his council of ministers will participate in the seminar.
