MELBOURNE, March 20 (Reuters) Scotland's Caitlin McClatchey won the women's 400 metres freestyle final at the Commonwealth Games today to capture her second gold medal in five days.

McClatchey swam a perfect tactical race to win the gold in four minutes, 07.69 seconds after an absorbing three-way duel with England's Joanne Jackson and Australia's Bronte Barratt.

Jackson, who led at the halfway mark, finished second in 4:08.36 while Barratt faded after leading with 100m to go to finish third in 4:08.65.

McClatchey upset Australia's Libby Lenton to win the 200m freestyle in the opening event of the swimming programme and her latest victory lifted Scotland's gold medal tally in the pool to five, easily their best performance at a Commonwealth Games.

David Carry also completed a golden double by winning the 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley while Gregor Tait won the 200m backstroke.
