Samples test negative, no traces of bird flu in JK
Jammu, Mar 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Vijay Bakaya today said no case of birdflu had been detected in the state and all the 727 samples of birds sent for testing at the animal disease laboratory in Bhopal, returned negative.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the officers of the Animal Husbandry, Health and Wildlife department to review the situation arising out of the scare of avian birdflu, he said the department had sent random samples to the laboratory and all had tested negative.
The state gove rnment has already lifted the prohibition on import of day old chicks, broiler and eggs, but import of freezed poultry product was banned, he addded.
