RS 3.82 crores disburses among Kashmiri migrants

Jammu, Mar 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Transport Mangat Ram Sharma today said over Rs 3.82 crore have been disbursed among the Kashmiri migrants as compensation in lieu of leftover properties.

The Minister, speaking in the legislative council, said at present 108 cases were pending for investigation and verification of actual ownership of the properties.

The compensation would be given to the people of Kargil sector who have migrated due to shelling or whose land has been occupied by the Army, he added.

He said all Deputy Commissioners have been directed to speed up verification of pending cases so that the owners are provided compensation at the earliest. He said some of these cases are pending due to ownership disputes.

Mr Sharma assured that the government will look into the matter on priority in the case of one Ramji and in this connection Deputy Commissioner Kupawra will be asked to come up with explanation as to why the payment in this case has not been made available to the government for sanction.
