New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) One of the prime witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case, Bina Ramani today met Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul seeking 'protection' over alleged reports of lurking threats after 'retrial' in the case was ordered.

Ms Ramani, who was accompanied by her daughter Malini (another witness) and was with the Commissioner for about 25 minutes, later told reporters that Dr Paul assured them of ''all help''.

''I am happy after the meeting with the Commissioner. Though we haven't asked for any protection right now, Dr Paul assured us of all help whenever it was sought.'' Stressing that she was available ''all the time'' in the name of justice and a good cause, Ms Ramani said she hoped looking at her stand, more witnesses would come out in support of a fair trial in the case.

''We have cooperated with the police all along and have been in India ever since the the trial in the case began. We are not running away. We are available all the time.'' Denying that any notice had been sent to her, the owner of the Tamarind Court -- where the incident took place -- Ms Ramani said neither had any notice been sent to them nor any policeman knocked their doors.

''There seems to be a deliberate attempt to create a situation to confuse the whole matter, which is why we sort the meeting with the Commissioner. We have nothing to hide.'' Yesterday Ms Ramani had told a newspaper that she felt she was being treated like an accused in the case despite the fact that she, along with her husband and daughter, had all along stood by the Lalls and cooperated with the police at all times.

Ms Bina Ramani, her daughter Malini and her husband George are the three prime witnesses to the April 29, 1999 incident.
