One person remanded in police custody in bomb seizure case

Barrackpore, Mar 20 (UNI) One person, arrested in connection with the seizure of bombs and its ingredients from a mango grove on March 18 at Duttapara in North 24 Parganas, was remanded in police custody today.

Police said the 24 year-old youth was arrested from Dharampur under Beejpur police station.

Police maintained strict vigil in Kanchrapara and Halisahar area cordoning the garden for the last few days after recovering the explosives with the help of bomb disposal squad.

Meanwhile, police rounded up 405 miscreants during a night long special raid yesterday and issued 140 arrest warrants.

The raids were organised to comply with the Election Commission's orders for the coming assembly elections in the state, sources said.

North 24 Parganas Police Superintendent Praveen Kumar said 20 people were arrested with specific cases against 245 people arrested for alleged gambling, illicit liquor trading and preventive measures.
