Ahmedabad, Mar 20 (UNI) Stating that there has been no human death on account of bird flu in India so far, Union Health Minister A Ramadoss today said precautions are being taken as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations.

''In fact, we have been preparing to counter this outrbeak since the past one-and-a-half years. Culling is more a fool-proof method than treating the poultry. We are doing it within zero to ten km radius around Navapur,'' he told mediapersons on the sidelines of a function at the Indian Institute of Management here.

Giving an assurance that there should be no reason for panic, Dr Ramadoss said, ''Our Indian style of cooking is such that it is very safe. The prescribed safety norm is that chicken should be cooked for 20 minutes at 70 degrees. We do it five times over!'' UNI MMG GK SC BST1919
