Man gets life imprisonment for killing step-father

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) A city court has sentenced a 25 year-old-man to life imprisonment for brutally murdering his step-father in Sangam Vihar in South Delhi two years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) S P Garg, held Bheema guilty of murdering Baliram Sharma, 55 and sentenced him to life imprisonment on Saturday.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 1000 on Bheema.

On the intervening night of January 1-2, 2004, Bheema murdered Baliram with the help of a hand pump handle. The convict was staying with them since the last four months, according to the Complainant, his mother Prema.

The deceased and his wife had given shelter to Bheema, but instead of feeling obligated to the couple, the convict brutally killed Baliram at midnight and fled from the spot. Baliram died on January 8. The convict also committed attempt to murder of Prema, his mother. He was arrested on January 25, according to the prosecution.

Bheema was convicted under sections 307 (Attempt to murder) and 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
