Man gets 7 year RI for raping minor daughter

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) A city court has sentenced a 33 year-old man to seven years imprisonment for raping his 12 year-old daughter in Sangam Vihar in South Delhi three years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) S K Kaushik, held Ram Lal guilty of raping his minor daughter and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 1000 on Ram Lal.

The complainant, Parvati, the mother-in-law of the convict, deposed in the court that her daughter, who works in Delhi as a labourer, was married to Ram Lal in 1990. They have a 12 year-old-girl child and the three were staying together.

The husband and wife were not on good terms and on May 29, 2003, at about 2200 hours, he came to ask if he could take their daughter back to his native place in Baman, Rajasthan. At first, the mother refused, but she gave permission later.

The victim deposed in the court that the convict took her to an isolated place in Ambedkar Nagar, gagged her and raped her and fled from the spot, according to the prosecution.

Ram Lal was convicted under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
