LDF to finalise seat allocation on Mar 25: CPI(M)

Kozhikode, Mar 20 (UNI) The Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala will take a final decision on seat allocation among the constitutents for the coming Assembly polls on March 25, CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said today.

A decision was not arrived at its first meeting on March 17 and 18 as the partners had to discuss various issues and as such another round of meeting was convened, he told reporters here.

Denying any differences among the LDF partners, he said the second meeting would also decide on a possible tie-up with the Indian National League, a supporter of the LDF for the last several years, he said.

Asked about the delay in convening the LDF meeting, Mr Vijayan said the party was pre-occupied with the death anniversaries of veteran leaders EMS Namboodiripad and E K Nayanar from March 19 to 22.

The second LDF meeting was fixed while keeping this fact in mind, he added.

On the possibility of the polit Bureau discussing the candidates list at its meeting tomorrow, he said the highest decision making body of the party would take up the issue of elections in all the five states as a whole.

However, he said ''I do not know about the exact agenda of the Polit Bureau meeting.

Stating that there were no differences among the party over the denial of ticket to senior leader V S Achuthandan, he said ''it was the creation of certain section of the media,''which distorted the facts according to their imagination".

''If any minor differences occurred, we discuss it in party fora and resolve it. That is the way of our functioning,'' he said.

On Marad Commission report, Mr Vijayan urged the government to publish the findings of the judicial commission on the massacre of the nine innocent people by unidentified assailants at Marad beach in the district on May 2, 2003.

People wanted to know about the findings of the commission, which had submitted its report last month, he said.
