ICC President to witness Goa ODI on April 3

Panaji, Mar 20 (UNI) ICC President Ehsan Mani will be the chief guest of the April 3 India-England ODI here and former Test player Dilip Sardesai will be felicitated on the occasion for being the only international cricketer of Goan origin.

Announcing this, BCCI Vice-President Dayanand Narvekar said Sardesai will be presented a sum of Rs five lakh during the function after the GCA's request for the same was accepted by board President Sharad Pawar.

He also said the security plan for the tie will be tightened.

Nearly 1,000 security personal including those from the state police force, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be deployed at the Nehru stadium, he said.

As many as 150 security personnel from Top Group (Mumbai), who are presently deployed at the ongoing Test match between the two sides at Wankhede stadium Mumbai, will be in Goa for the ODI.

Meanwhile, the GCA President Vinod Phadke said out of a total capacity of 26,330 only 13,300 tickets for the ODI will go for sale from March 23 to 30 at various syndicate branch outlets in Goa.

The rest will be disbursed as ODI passes to different GCA-affiliated clubs, life memebers, Ranji players who represented the state, players who represented the states in the under age level tournaments and GCA-recognised Umpires, he added.
