High level police probe into firing between BJP and SP supporters
Mahoba, Mar 20 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has directed Additional Director General (Crime) of UP Police R K Tripathi to probe the firing between the supporters of BJP MLA Badshah Singh and those of SP leader Raju Mishra here on Saturday last.
Mr Tripathi, has been directed to submit his findings within a week, official sources said here today.
Meanwhile, National Women Commission member Zarina Usmani today visited the Kharela area of this central district where the firing had taken place on Saturday last. Police in strength have been deployed in the area in view of the prevailing tension.
The BJP MLA from Maudaha in Hamirpur district Mr Singh had lodged a complaint with the DG of UP Police Yashpal Singh, alleging that supporters of SP leaders Raju Mishra and Raju Singh had indulged in firing against his supporters during a Holi function on Saturday last.
Instead of lodging criminal complaint against the SP leaders and supporters, the police had registered two criminal cases against him in the entire matter, Mr Singh had further alleged in the complaint.
Acting on it ADG (Crime) Mr Tripathi was asked to initiate a probe into the entire matter, official sources added. Mr Tripathi visited the Kharela area today and gathered inputs from the police and the witnesses to the firing.
