HC imposes penalty on Centre, state government

Ranchi, Mar 20 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today imposed Rs 10,000 each on the Union government, the state government and Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) here for not filing counter affidavit as per its earlier order in connection with retirement of Dr Vidya Nand Sharma and others.

Justice S J Mukhhopadhaya passed the order while hearing a writ petition field by Dr Sharma of Bau.

The court has also directed the Union government, the state government and BAU to deposit the amount at Jharkhand state legal services authority and file the counter affidavit in three weeks.
