Former Assistant Director sentenced to rigorous imprisonment

Ranchi, Mar 20 (UNI) A CBI special court today sentenced Dr K M Prasad, the then Assistant Director, Planning and Animal Husbandry department of undivided Bihar, to six years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs six lakh in connection with the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.

If the fine is not paid, Prasad will have to undergo imprisonment for another one year.

Pronouncing the judgement, designated special CBI judge Satish Chandra Singh said Prasad had been found guilty under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(E) under prevention of Corruption Act.

The CBI charged that Prasad had acquired assets of approximately Rs nine crore, more than his known income.

The six other accused, were, however, discharged from the case.

There were a total of seven disproportionate cases out of which five had been disposed of.
