Former Asom Home Minister Bhrigu Phukan dead

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) Senior AGP leader and former Home Minister of Asom Bhrigu Kumar Phukan died here today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences following multiple organ failure, according to hospital sources.

Mr Phukan, 46, is survived by his wife and a daughter.

The firebrand student leader of the 80s, Bhrigu Kumar Phukan was admitted to the Intensive care unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on February 17.

He had been flown in here from Guwahati on Friday last following multiple organ failure and was immediately put on the life support system at the hospital.

He was said to be suffering from liver infection and complications of the lung.
