Ex UP minister Gopinath Dikshit passes away

Lucknow, Mar 20 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh minister Gopinath Dikshit passed away early this morning at his Gomti Nagar residence here following illness.

The 83-year-old Congress leader had held important portfolios including Industry, Cooperatives and Health in the previous governments in UP.

The five time MLA from Bangarmau and Safripur seats of neighbouring Unnao district was also involved actively in educational activities.

In a condolence message here, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav expressed sorrow at the loss of a multi-farious personality.

The CM also directed the administration to ensure cremation of Mr Dikshit with full state honours.
