Delhi BJP proposals to solve demolition issue
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Delhi BJP has suggested open exemption to house owners in the national capital to construct an additional storey to solve the problem of unauthorised constructions.
It has also suggested amendment of the Master Plan of Delhi to allow commercial activities in areas with road width of 40 feet, 60 feet, 80 feet or more to provide relief to traders living under the constant fear of Supreme court order for the sealing of commercial units in residential areas.
The party also favours regularisation of all the markets in the capital, preparing special ''squatting zones'' for hawkers, regularisation of all shops constructed in DDA colonies, running of non-polluting industries in residential areas and making available all the basic facilities for the industrial areas.
The suggestions are contained in a series of proposals prepared by the BJP state unit to be submitted to the Tejender Khanna committee set up to look into the issue of unauthorised constructions, at an all party meeting convened by it tomorrow, Delhi BJP chief Harshvardhan told reporters here.
As a representative of the Delhi BJP, Mr Harshvardhan would submit the proposals to Urban Development Minister Ajay Maken, who is a member of the committee, at tomorrow's meeting.
Dr Harshvardhan said all the house owners of Delhi may be given open exemption to construct an additional storey as it would immediately make available 25 lakh additional residential units in Delhi. However, the exemption, he said, be given with the condition that none of the residential buildings will be higher than 15 metre till formal sanction is taken for a building higher than this size.
