Commonwealth-England's Cook wins 50m breaststroke title
MELBOURNE, Mar 20 (Reuters) England's Christopher Cook won the men's 50 metres breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games today claiming his second gold medal in Melbourne.
Cook pipped team mate Darren Mew by a few centimetres to win in a time of 28.01 seconds.
Mew finished second in 28.07, continuing England's surprising domination of the men's swimming events at the 18th Commonwealth Games, while Australia's Brenton Rickard finished third in 28.14 after going into the final as the fastest qualifier.
Cook, who grew up idolising Britain's former Olympic breaststroke champion Adrian Moorhouse, also won gold in the 100m title.
