Capgemini opens third India centre in Kolkata

PARIS, Mar 20: Europe's largest computer services company Capgemini is launching a third centre in India in Kolkata under its strategy to offer cheaper outsourcing services.

The new 500-seat centre will provide Finance&Accountancy Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), package implementation and Web-based custom software development, the company said on Monday.

''It demonstrates the success of Capgemini's Rightshore strategy, not only with our U.S. customers but especially in Europe which represents half of Capgemini's India workflow,'' it said.

Capgemini, which has operations in Mumbai and Bangalore, currently employs over 4,000 people in India. It said it was aiming to employ around 6,000 by end-2006 and 10,000 by end-2007.
