BJP will not tolerate indiscipline: Rajnath
Chennai, Mar 20: Asserting that the (BJP) will not tolerate indiscipline, Party President Rajnath Singh today said senior leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Madanlal Khurana's suspension would make no difference to the party.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Singh, claimed the BJP was the most disciplined party compared to other national parties and said ''the BJP has no place for those who violate party discipline. It is such a big party that it makes no difference if few people go out and come in.'' Indirectly charging Mr Khurana with voicing dissent because he was denied Rajya Sabha seat from Delhi, Mr Singh said those who had ideological difference, could not use it as a tool to get party post.
''Anybody having ideological difference could discuss the same with the party high command. But nobody could be allowed to use it as a tool to get party post,'' Mr Singh said.
Mr Singh, who is here in connection with finalising party's poll strategy in the south, had suspended Mr Khurana yesterday in consultation with senior party leaders following Mr Khurana's announcement he would join the ''Janadesh Rally'' organised by expelled leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati in Delhi tomorrow.
This was the second time Mr Khurana was being suspended from the party. He faced the axe last year when he openly accused Former BJP President L K Advani of ignoring senior leaders.
The suspension, was, however, revoked at the intervention of senior leader A B Vajpayee.
Mr Singh dismissed as hypothetical, when asked whether the party would admit Mr Khurana again, if he expressed regret for his ''acts of indiscipline.'' ''We had taken him back last time after he had expressed regret for his remarks, but now the question is hypothetical,'' he said.
Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, Mr Singh criticised and said during the 21-month regime of UPA, the country had witnessed upward trend in prices of essential commodities, terrorirism, 'minorityism' and downward trend in the dignity of Constitutional institutions and sense of national security.
Meanwhile, talking to newspersons at party headquarters here, Mr Singh said the BJP was not exploring the possibility of forging alliance with any party in the state. ''The BJP has decided to go it alone in the state and will stick to the decision,'' he said. However, the party would consider the offer, if any party expressed desire to join hands with it, he said.
''If any proposal comes, it will be considered on the basis of merits and demerits,'' he added.
Asked whether some parties were showing interest in forging alliance with the BJP, Mr Singh quoted State President C P Radhakrishnan of having said they were only minor parties.
Answering a question, he said in the event of a hung Assembly after the elections, the BJP would help to form a stable government in the state.
