Babbar Khalsa chief arrested, RDX, arms seized
New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) Delhi police claimed to have arrested head of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in India Paramjeet Singh Bheora, along with two of his associates, and seized a large quantity of explosives and arms and ammunition this morning.
A close associate of Jagtar Singh Hawara, prime accused in the assassination of Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, Paramjeet Singh Bheora (34) was arrested at about 0600 hrs close to Alipur on G T Karnal Road in North-West Delhi after a brief encounter, Joint Commissioner Karnal Singh told mediapersons.
''Two of his associates -- Jasbir Singh (34) and Bhupinder Singh (20) -- who were travelling with him in the car have also been arrested.'' Four kilograms of RDX, three detonators, a DTMF remote control device with wireless set, a timer, three pistols and 39 live cartridges along with the stolen car they were travelling in were seized from them, he said.
''While Bheora was to go to Moradabad (UP) to meet his BKI 'link'. his two associates were to go to Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) from Delhi to procure weapons. They had come here from Punjab to meet their contact.'' Bheora, who was under direct command of Harjit Singh Gill in the United States, was also in touch with BKI chief Wadhwa Singh in Pakistan and would receive money not just through the 'hawala' but also bank accounts, said the police official.
Bheora, involved in the killing of Mr Beant Singh, along with Hawara had escaped from Chandigarh's Burail Jail in 2004 and later went to Pakistan to receive terror training.
