Action plan for development of Naxal infested areas soon: Patil

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today told the Legislative Assembly that an action plan for development of Naxal infested areas would be announced soon.

''Details of the plan will be made public in the next Session,'' Mr Patil said after the Question Hour.

He said the problem of Naxalites prevailed in areas where Human Development Index was extremely low. ''Apart from surrender plans for Naxalities and tackling violence firmly, the government is also enagged in a comprehensive development plan in these areas mostly centred in Vidarbha region,'' he said.

''I have held several rounds of discussions with Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in this regard and also held informal parleys in the cabinet to prepare the action plan for an all round development,'' said Mr Patil.

Besides, the government would hold a meeting of all elected representatives from naxal infested areas for their views and suggestions regarding the development, Mr Patil added.
