UPA would collapse after the Assembly Elections: Rajnath
Pondicherry, Mar 19 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) National President Rajnath Singh today claimed that the UPA would disintegrate after the elections to five states in May and a snap poll to the Parliament could be expected.
Talking to newspersons here, he claimed after the UPA government came to power, the prices of essential commodites are skyrocketing, while it was under control during the NDA regime.
Mr Singh claimed because of the enhancement of service tax from ten to 12 per cent in the current budget, the prices will further go up.
He alleged that the Finance Minister P Chidambaram did not mention anything about the price hike of petroleum products, based on the Rangarajan Committee recommendations in the budget, but the Government would implement it after the budget session, which would lead to an increase in prices of all commodities.
Terrorism is increasing day by day, he alleged and added that under the UPA regime several centres, including cultural, market and IT were attacked by terrorists.
He alleged the UPA had repealed POTA when it came to power, and it shows the Government's soft corner for terrorists.
Mr Singh alleged that the UPA Government is incapable of safeguarding the country and had lowered the dignity of onstitutional institutions.
Mr Singh said reservation should be provided on the basis of socio, economic and educational criterion, and not on the basis of religion, as it is unconstitutional. He said the party would oppose everything, which would disintegrate the country. The UPA had indulged in minority appeasement act by providing reservation, which was struck down by the Supreme Court, he added.
He said the BJP also condemned the portrayal of the Prophet in a Danish newspaper, but the party is against instigating minorities for political motivations and vote bank politics.
He said the party had decided to udertake two 'Yatras' to create awareness among the people on terrorism and on the divisive tendencies.
Elaborating on his remark that the UPA will disintegrate, Mr Singh said that the BJP had won in Bihar and Jharkand after the UPA came to power at the Centre.
The BJP would do well in the ensuing Assembly Elections and is expected to form the Government in Assam with the help of other parties, he added.
