Traffic Inspector fatally knocked down

Bangalore, Mar 19 (UNI) A Traffic Inspector was mowed down when he attempted to check drunken driving in the city late last night.

Police sources said the ill-fated Inspector Arun Kumar (24), attached to Shivaji Nagar Traffic police station, had stopped a jeep and asked the driver to roll down the window. However, the driver fatally knocked down the officer and fled the scene.

A seriously injured Arun Kumar died on the way to hospital due to severe bleeding, they added.

Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy expressed grief over the incident, visited the home of the deceased and paid homage.
