Six held for massacre
Guwahati, Mar 19 (UNI) Police have so far arrested six people, all tea estate labourers, in connection with yesterday's massacre of five of a family at Shakomato Tea Estate at Bishwanath Charilai in Sonitpur district.
Police were keeping close tabs on the situation there, where five people were beheaded by tea labourers after suspecting them to be practising witchcraft in the area.
Those arrested were identified as Anil Munda, R Munda, Tarun Munda, Purang Munda, Bijoy Munda and Ramesh Munda, all from the same tea estate where the incident occurred.
As many as 200 tea workers from the garden yesterday came to surrender at Bishwanath Chariali police station with the severed heads of the victims.
Police also recovered five machetes suspected to be used in the crime.
