RJD urges EC to nullify the JD (U) candidature
Patna, Mar 19 (UNI) RJD today urged the Election Commission to nullify the candidature of Mahendra Prasad who had filed his nomination as a JD (U) candidate for the Rajya Sabha election in Bihar.
RJD Chief Whip in Bihar Assembly Ram Chandra Purvey, in a fax message, had requested the EC to nullify Mr Prasad's candidature as he was an RJD member in the Rajya Sabha.
The Rajya Sabha election in Bihar is scheduled on March 29.
Mr Purvey said this case was a clear violation of the 10th schedule of the Constitution and the Supreme Court's order in this regard.
Urging the EC to intervene into the matter immediately, the RJD leader said Mr Prasad was elected as a Rajya Sabha member in 2000.
Later, he was suspended from the party on disciplinary grounds but he continued as a RJD member in Rajya Sabha as per an order passed by the Supreme Court order in 2004.
